The Character of Black Eyes

What are your black eyes?	1
Blacker than fresh-collected	2
soot from a thief's cremation.	3
They appercieve the space	4
as twin statements: Evermore	5
and Last. They medicate.	6

Do they, blinking, snatch	7
but glimpses of my nudity,	8
pressed at you like an idiot's	9
signature? Do you steal bits	10
of me in snapshot? I am not	11
an index. I am cinema.	12

They close when I enter you,	13
a pair of dark walnut shutters	14
concealing vanity--	15
How may I pry them open?	16
Distinguish the bold sex of the iris	17
from the strangers to rainbow?	18

Just as soon as smash them	19
into brilliant hues of red,	20
I would illuminate their depths	21
with a pinhole beam.	22
I would wipe clean your mind	23
with the envy of my stare.	24
