My favourite beer

Smartly designed

in blue and gold,

the cans atop the second shelf

of my sparse fridge await.

Heaven-for-the-waist brocolli

and guava yoghurt battle for space

with the creamiest cheese
 7
and my Mars indulgences.

But you I revere

with the dedication of

a shelf for you and you alone.

My first time out in the open

drinking in parental defiance

and celebration of life and sex and rock n' roll,

you were there.

After a stressful day it's you I reach for,

(just one or two mind you),

before I head out on the town or just at a party

you are the one.

Now I'm beginning to frighten the audience

with my little once harmless and humerous

now lunicated rant so I'll put you down,
