| Hawaiian Portrait II |

|
Cool breeze tickling the back of my neck, | 1 |
I bury my toes in the warm Hawaiian sand | 2 |
A small crab tries to nibble at my foot, | 3 |
but I just smile at the innocent creature. | 4 |
| |
The sun is on its way down, | 5 |
leaving the sky a soft mix of colorful pastels | 6 |
Waves casually come in to shore, | 7 |
only to fall back into the great Pacific once again. | 8 |
| |
The soothing sound of Aloha 'Oy being played by a quartet of guitars fills the air, | 9 |
along with the familiar scent of a barbecue as locals prepare for a luau on the beach | 10 |
Everyone here seems cheerful, | 11 |
as if the only worry is missing the priceless view of the sun peacefully sinking into the horizon | 12 |
| |
Boats begin returning to their docks for the night, | 13 |
filled with the day's catch of fish | 14 |
Children show off their newly found seashells, | 15 |
cherry cheeks from spending the day without sunscreen | 16 |
| |
Hawaiian beauties sway their hips to the music, dancing the hula; | 17 |
leis around their necks and hibiscuses in their long, black hair | 18 |
Finally, the breathtaking image of the last, shining part of the sun disappears, | 19 |
and the luau is alive | 20 |
| |
Pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris are given to all, | 21 |
virgin for the young ones of course, | 22 |
as the torches are brought to life | 23 |
along with another wonder filled Hawaiian night | 24 |
| 25 |
Though I'm miles away from my house, I've never felt so at home | 26 |
