I drowned once,

It was not in water -

It was in my head,

Ibuprofen coursing

Inside my veins.

I swallowed them whole,

In the shower stall,

In the fetal position.

I did not cry.

Illegitimate fears and hatred

Immersed me.

I looked to die, but
