Homesick in AK

Stark realization,

Internal epiphany -
 2
these faces are so fickle
 3
and a fast waste of time.
 4
 
 
Chasms creep in like a sly cat,
 5
kneeding it's paws on the fleshy parts of dry skin.
 6
Pressure building to pain,
 7
stirring me from a warm slumber
 8
now  cold, alone and very conscious.
 9
 
 
The prolonged dawn is pink rouge
 10
Something so crystaline about the dew drops
 11
on the fireweed breath the freshness of a new day.

Foreign little world how uncanny it may be
 13
how clumsy i climb from the womb of my sleeping bag.

I am reborn into a new place.
 15
A motherless child.
 16
And the only comfort is the breeze.

It works for me,

I suck on the tender honey air,

I cry with the midday rainshower,
 20
I rock in the meadows of laced wild flowers.

Away in the arctic

two hundred and fifty miles from
 23
anywhere.

Five thousand miles from home.
